11th October 2024

This afternoon, after I returned from work, to escape the continuous sound of traffic idling outside the front door, waiting to get through the A25/A20 junction, I took my usual wander around the country lanes to Platt, and back again. Thankfully, with Seven Mile Lane reopened, they weren’t too busy and I was able to get some peace from the revving engines, fumes, beeping horns, angry shouting, loud music and hands-free phone calls that can be heard with such clarity in our front room. Autumn is gently casting its palette across the landscape. Manure ploughed into the ground, grazing rabbits in the sunshine, staring ‘Platt Cats’ out in force and local construction work finished for the week. The traffic will continue (I believe, until 24th November), so fingers crossed there are more good-weather days like these to come over the coming weeks.

This is Platt at the end of the first full week of October 2024.
