5th March 2025
With the arrival of the fine weather, I’ve been itching to get out for a walk all week. This morning, I managed to do so, and although still a little chilly, I was pleased to feel the sun’s warmth on my face.
Pregnant ewes watched intently as I walked along Comp Lane. The larks at Beechin Wood were soaring high, and of course, multiple Robins took a keen interest in the safety of thorny hedgerows. Sadly, an ex-badger – recently, judging by the amount of blood on the road, lay at the entrance to Potash Lane (does anyone know who to report this to?)
As I headed up Long Mill Lane, all the children from Platt School were heading in the opposite direction, presumably on their way to church and reminding me of many outings as a parent helper, standing in the middle of the road, holding back the traffic.
The old Platt School site has had a haircut, though I suspect it won’t be long before nature begins marching across it. By summer, it will once again be covered by plants.
With the promise of several more days of glorious early spring weather to come, I’m looking forward to getting out again.
This is Platt during the first week of March 2025.
